The World Health Organization (WHO) is reporting the importance of not becoming complacent during this Swine Flu epidemic. Mexico has made an announcement they believe the worst is over with the Swine Flu. Like the Spanish Flu of 1918, which started in the spring, it slowed during the hot summer months. Once Fall and cooler weather came, the Spanish flu came back a powerful force

Swine Flu information from CDC

I had a great, great Grandmother succumb to the 1918 Flu Pandemic. Leaving my great Grandmother with her father and sibling to raise. While the situation probably could not have been prevented, this made me think about how important knowledge is regarding the Swine Flu. In 1918 there was no Internet! Can you imagine??

I started my Nursing career with my BSN degree clutched tightly in my hand. The other hand held a tissue, wiping the tears of relief from passing the NCLEX. Hired as a brand new nurse at a hospital in Cleveland, Ohio called Mt Sinai. Mt. Sinai Medical Center was a 400+ bed, level 1 trauma center, teaching hospital. ( the hospital since closed around 1997) I was given the gift of taking clear direction with my Nursing Career.
