Walk Through Transportation Security Administration Check Point With Your Shoes On

TSA Pre✓™ Application Process Coming Fall 2013 The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is announcing plans to implement a TSA Pre✓™ application process. The TSA Pre✓™ fee-based application process will allow U.S. citizens the opportunity to apply for expedited screening without a passport. When available, the application will be a two-step process: Fill out an online application. Verify identity and provide fingerprints at a TSA Pre✓™ enrollment center. Applicants may pay the anticipated $85 enrollment fee online, or at an enrollment center. There is a five-year term of eligibility, after which members will need to re-apply. TSA expects the vetting process to take approximately 2-3 weeks. A U.S. passport is not required to enroll. The first two enrollment locations, Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Indianapolis International Airport (IND), will open in fall 2013 with plans to expand to additional enrollment sites nationwide. Applicants receive a confirmation letter via U.S. mail. Approved applicants are issued a ‘Known Traveler Number’ to be used when booking travel. Passengers enter their Known Traveler Number (KTN) in the ‘Known Traveler Field’ when booking their travel reservations. Passengers may also enter their KTN to their frequent flyer airline profiles, where it is stored for future reservations. Current TSA Pre✓™ participants, including those eligible via a CBP Trusted Traveler Program such as Global Entry, will continue to receive TSA Pre✓™ eligibility. Participants who opted-in through their airline frequent flyer program may want to consider applying for TSA Pre✓™, as they are more likely to be selected for TSA Pre✓™ expedited screening more often if they are vetted via the TSA Pre✓™ application process. Enrollment locations, contact information and hours of operation will be available fall 2013.

One Big Difference Between U.S. Government Pre Check and Global Entry Programs

What is the difference between this TSA Pre✓ Program and the Global Entry Program?

As far as my research covers, the Global Entry program is one of the Trusted Travelers Program. If you meet the qualifications for the Global Entry Program, and travel to the Netherlands, you may register for the FLUX program.

The TSA Pre✓ program is for passengers flying domestically.

What are the benefits of both of these programs?
Although these are not a guarantee, please continue to cooperate with TSA.

Check Out How to Save More Time at the Airport- New Program

TSA Pre Check Program Saves Shoe and Belt Time

October 4th 2013

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced that it began testing a limited, voluntary passenger pre-screening initiative with a small known traveler population at four U.S. airports. The TSA Pre✓™ initiative implements a key component of the agency's intelligence-driven, risk-based approach to security. This pilot program will help assess measures designed to enhance security by placing more focus on pre-screening individuals who volunteer information about themselves prior to flying in order to potentially expedite the travel experience.

"As TSA moves further away from a one-size-fits-all approach, our ultimate goal is to provide the most effective security in the most efficient way possible," said TSA Administrator John S. Pistole. "By learning more about travelers through information they voluntarily provide, and combining that information with our other layers of security, we can focus more resources on higher-risk and unknown passengers. This new screening system holds great potential to strengthen security while significantly enhancing the travel experience whenever possible for passengers."

During this pilot, TSA will use pre-screening capabilities to make intelligence-based risk assessments on passengers who voluntarily participate in the TSA Pre✓™ program and are flying domestically from one of the four pilot sites: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County, Dallas/Fort Worth International and Miami International airports. Eligible participants include certain frequent flyers from American Airlines and Delta Air Lines as well as members of the Customs and Border Protection's (CBP's)

Trusted Traveler programs, including Global Entry, SENTRI, and NEXUS, who are U.S. citizens and are flying on participating airlines. If successful, TSA plans to expand the pilot to include additional airlines, as well as other airports that participate in CBP's Global Entry program, once operationally ready.

Eligible passengers may be referred to a lane where they will experience expedited screening. TSA will always incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening. TSA's multi-layered approach to security also includes behavior detection officers, explosives-detection systems, canine teams, and federal air marshals, among other measures both seen and unseen.

As part of the agency's risk-based security initiative, TSA is in the process of testing several other new screening initiatives, including a program designed to provide positive ID verification for airline pilots and the use of expanded behavior detection techniques, in addition to the recent changes in screening procedures for children.

Only through its partnership with American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and CBP is TSA able to operationalize this pre-screening pilot initiative in an effort to further strengthen aviation security.

Stop Taking Your Shoes off During Airport Security Checks (TSA)

Wait. How can I do that? The United States TSA, Tranportation Security Administration has everyone take off their shoes! Easy! Sign up for the Trusted Traveler Program called Global Entry. Do you travel internationally and want to move more quickly through security check points? In the summer of 2013 the U.S. Government rolled out the multiple Trusted Traveler Program. For the individual traveler, like yourself the best program I could find is called Global Entry. According to the fact sheet becoming a member of this program would mean No more removing your shoes during TSA check points. No More removing your belt No more lap top removal from your lap top carrying case. Quick and easy. This is what I discovered so far; Trusted Traveler Program-- Global Entry Apply Now with the Global Online Enrollment System (GOES). The Global Entry online application is part of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Global Online Enrollment System (GOES), which is used for all CBP Trusted Traveler program applications. (GOES) I had difficulty finding the initial application to start the process on this website. I am thinking that the best thing to do is find an enrollment center at one of your favorite airports. http://www.globalentry.gov/locations.html Has the list handy and a NEW one just opened up in DC, near the White House. Here's the registration information; Every individual who applies for Global Entry - including children - must create an individual GOES account and submit a separate Global Entry application. Each pays the non-refundable $100 application fee via credit card or electronic bank transfer. After accepting your completed application and fee, CBP will review your application. If your application is conditionally approved, your GOES account will instruct you to schedule an appointment for an interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. Each applicant in a household must schedule a separate interview. I am curious how the process goes for you so please post your experience with this new program. Be Healthy, Nurse G
